Death
Penalty
Sister Helen Prejean, C.S.J., anti-death penalty activist, will present
a lecture titled, “Dead Man Walking, the Journey Continues,”
at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 at St. Andrew Church in Newtown. Sister Helen
will lead an ecumenical prayer service focused on the central principle

Vietnam Memorial
“The Wall That Heals,” a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
in Washington, D.C., will be on display at La Salle College High School
from 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, through Sunday, Oct. 8. The memorial will

“Why Catholic?”
A series on Catholicism is being held at 10 a.m. Sundays until Nov. 19
at the Oratory of St. Norbert Church in Paoli. Kevin Hughes, professor
of theology at Villanova University and Deacon John Lozano of St. Norbert

Black Congress
St. Peter Claver Center, 502 S. 12th Street, is hosting the 10th National
Black Catholic Congress and History of the National Black Congress from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. The presenter will be Valarie Washington,

Day of Prayer
Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic women, will host a day of prayer, praise
rosary and celebration of the Eucharist Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Our Lady

Spirituality Day
St. Katharine Drexel Mission Center and Shrine in Bensalem will sponsor
a “Native American Spirituality Day” from 11:30 a.m. to 4
p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15. The day will end with the blessing of the Blessed
Kateri Tekakwitha statue and a prayer of healing.
Autumn Retreat
The IHM Conference Center in Bryn Mawr has a retreat from 9:30 a.m. to
2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 on the grounds of the Wootton Estate. Information:

Annual Walk/Run
Immaculata University will conduct its annual 5K walk/run to feed the
hungry at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct 21 on the campus. Proceeds will benefit

Vox Ama Deus opens its 20th anniversary season with “Mozartfest”

100th
Birthday
Sister Crispin Hanselmann celebrated her 100th birthday Sept. 29 at Assisi
House in Aston, the retirement residence of the Sisters of St. Francis
of Philadelphia. Born in Germany, Sister Crispin ministered in elementary
education in the Allentown Diocese for 45 years. She moved to Assisi House
in 1993.
Vigils
for Life
The Helpers of God’s Precious Infants will conduct vigils for
life at two locations. Following Mass at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at St.
John Chrysostom Church, Wallingford, the clergy and congregation will
pray the rosary at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Father Rayford
E. Emmons will celebrate Mass at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Newman
Hall, 3720 Chestnut Street. After Mass, the clergy and congregation
will pray the rosary at a nearby abortion center and return to Newman
Hall for Benediction.
Healing Mass
Anointing of the Sick Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct.
15 at Sacred Heart Church, Swedesburg.
