Largest Enrollment
Holy Family University boasts an estimated 3,500 total student enrollment,
its largest ever. Some 170 students will live in residence housing on
and near campus. New students will be welcomed at a picnic Tuesday, Aug.
29 at 11:30 a.m. at Tamanend Park in Southampton. Students will perform
community service activities then enjoy a picnic and games. The fall semester
starts the following day.
Art Classes
Catholic Social Services will sponsor art classes for adults (55 and over)
at Archbishop Wood High School beginning Thursday, Sept. 7 from 2:45 to
5:45 p.m. Classes will run for 10 weeks. Information: 215-957-6699.
Choir in Concert
The Valley Forge Men and Boys Choir will present a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday,
Sept. 17 at St. John the Baptist Church in Manayunk. Proceeds will benefit
the restoration of the parish organ. A reception will follow in the social

Thrift Shop
Special sales will mark the opening of the Medical Mission Sisters Thrift
Shop at 8400 Pine Road in Fox Chase, Wednesday, Sept. 6. Located on the
grounds of the congregation’s North American Headquarters, the shop
features a wide variety of donated merchandise, from clothing and jewelry
to books and household items. The shop will be open Monday through Saturday

Golf Tourney
The fifth annual Aid for Friends golf tournament will be held Monday,
Sept. 25 at North Hills Country Club in Oreland. Registration begins at

Spiritual Meaning
The St. John Neumann Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order will hold
an “Information Night” Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at Our
Lady of Angels Convent in Aston. Men and women of all ages and walks of

Meaning of Dreams
The Counseling Center of Holy Redeemer Health System will sponsor a series
of Thursday night discussions on the “Meaning of Your Dreams.”
The first session will be held Sept. 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Center,

Wound Center
Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center in Meadowbrook recently announced
the opening of its new Wound Care Center. The outpatient facility offers
specialized diagnostic and treatment services for adults with chronic
or non-life-threatening acute wounds. The Center at 1650 Huntingdon Pike

Novena
of Prayer
Corpus Christi Parish in Upper Gwynedd will conduct a nine week novena
of prayer for healing Wednesdays starting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in the

Vigils for Life
The Helpers of God’s Precious Infants will conduct vigils for life
at two area parishes. A vigil will be held Saturday, Sept. 2 at Christ
the King Church. Following Mass at 7 a.m., the clergy and congregation
will pray the rosary at a nearby abortion center. A vigil will also be
held at 8 a.m, Sept. 2. at St. Agnes Church, West Chester. Following Mass,
the clergy and congregation will pray the rosary at a nearby abortion
site.
